Happy New Year! Book Now For 2017!
Hello!
Happy New Year from all of us here at Splitter Scotland.

We’re now taking bookings throughout 2017, so get in touch now for a quote and book up in advance to avoid disappointment.

If you haven’t hired from us before then feel free to get in touch with any quieres that you may have, but in the meantime here are some of our frequently asked questions:

1. What is the drivers criteria for hiring?
To hire from Splitter Scotland the driver must be aged 25-70, held their full UK driving license for 2 years or more with no major endorsements within the past 10 years.

You’ll find that the majority of companies are the same and this is down to insurance rules, which unfortunately can’t be changed or worked around. There are some companies out there that allow drivers over 23, but they will likely charge extra and have a higher excess/deposit.

2. How do I book a van?

Get in touch via phone or e-mail to check on availability first and when you’re ready to book just give us a call.

We take a minimum £100 deposit to book a van which will come off your balance on the day of hire. We cannot ‘pencil in’ a hire or keep any hire without this deposit.

3. What do I have to bring with me in terms of documentation on the day of hire?
It’s extremely important that you bring your valid card drivers license, a proof of address dated within one month and a DVLA check code. All drivers must be present on the day of hire also with the same documentation.

The DVLA check code is a new system that was brought in to replace the paper counterpart of your drivers license. It basically gives us an up to date version of your drivers license and it’s actually really simple to get a hold of a code. Find out more here.

4. Do I have to leave any deposits while on hire?

Yes, we take a £250.00 deposit towards the total excess to cover any damages or balances at the end of the hire.

The total excess on the van which you are liable for is £1,000 but we only ask for 25% of that as the deposit.

5. Is there anywhere to park my car while I’m on hire?
Yes! There is free street parking on Sandy Road, right outside our depot and it’s generally quite quiet.

6. Are there any mileage charges?

If your hire is between 1-4 days there is a mileage allowance of 200 per day. Anything over that is just 10p per mile.

If your hire is 5 days or more you qualify for unlimited mileage.

7. Do you supply a driver?

No, we are a self drive company – so you need to provide your own driver. We can however suggest some drivers to you that use us regularly, but you would need to get in touch with them directly as we cannot arrange drivers for you.

8. What are the pickup and drop off times for hires?

Weekdays – Anytime between 8:30am and 4.30pm // Weekends – 8:30am, 12:30pm or 4:30pm

The van is strictly due back at the same time as your pickup time. There are additional charges for late returns and we often have a customer waiting to be booked out in your van.

9. Can you deliver the van?

Unfortunately not. Splitter Scotland is an extension of two other companies which are run by the same team, therefore we are always extremely busy and cannot deliver any vehicle.

We can however pick you up at the nearest train station in Carluke, free of charge.

10. What’s the best way to get to your depot in Carluke?

Carluke is situated in between Glasgow and Edinburgh and it’s really easy to get to via the train or the M74 and the M8 motorways.

We’re around 25 minutes from Glasgow and 35 minutes from Edinburgh. We do get asked if we are moving into Glasgow quite a lot – it’s on our to-do list, don’t worry!

All the best for 2017. See you soon!
